According to a famous quote summarizing Charles Darwin’s 1859 book, The Origin of Species, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” This has never been more true in the business world than it is now. We live in a world of uncertainty, where any company may need to change on a moment’s notice. Nothing underscores the need for an agile business like the shelter-in-place orders issued as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Almost overnight, organizations had to support their entire user population working from home, and most were not set up for that. Companies that had already embraced agility were able to adapt quickly, keep employees productive and maintain the highest levels of customer service. Those that had not done so are now struggling and must adapt or their very existence will be threatened.
