October 2022 //
The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped almost every aspect of our lives, including the way we work. Things that were once the exception have quickly become the norm. As consumers, we now need digital tickets to attend sporting events, and remote healthcare has become commonplace. In the business world, the pandemic has created a number of forces that are coming together and changing the role of IT. These trends include the following:
- Hybrid work: Just as quickly as the pandemic ushered in the era of working from home, it seems businesses are rapidly shifting to hybrid work. Results from the ZK Research 2022 Work-from-Anywhere Study show that while only 22% of employees regularly worked remotely before the pandemic, 51% will work from home two to four days per week, and another 14% will do so one day per week (Exhibit 1). This indicates that the future of work is hybrid, and organizations must look to implement technologies that create consistent experiences across locations.
