Apstra partners with Tokyo Electron Device (TED) to distribute Apstra’s intent-based networking solutions to the Japanese market

Intent-based networking pioneer Apstra announced today that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Tokyo Electron Device (TED) for the Japanese market.

Like baseball fans in the classic story of Casey at the bat, customers calling into contact centers can quickly swing between high and low expectations.

In the baseball classic “Casey at the Bat,” the home team, Mudville, was behind by two runs. The crowd — 5,000 people strong — believed if Casey, the team’s star player, could make it up to bat, Mudville could win. However, expectations were low, with too many weak hitters in front of Casey.

But wait… after the first two batters fail, Flynn and Jimmy Blake somehow get on base, bringing the mighty Casey up to bat. Now expectations from the fans go from low to extremely high, but on the last pitch, the mighty Casey strikes out and the whole crowd goes home unhappy.

Over the past few years Cisco has changed the face of its security business. What was once a struggling concern is now the fastest-growing part of Cisco. How did the company do this? Part of the rebirth of Cisco security can be traced to a change in focus, away from point products to a more data-driven model. Big data, analytics and machine learning have been hot topics in IT, and Cisco has gotten religion in this area and applied it masterfully to its security business.

According to researchers, physicians will be able to triage a patient’s status and their need to be seen by monitoring the data generated by wearable devices and analyzed by an Artificial Intelligent (AI) system. Fo example, many patients may go to their doctor and have a high blood pressure at that visit prompting the doctor to monitor the blood pressure more closely. This has become common practice but has proven to be very difficult to get the patient to be compliant in performing this task. The reasons for this may include, the patient forgetting to take or document the blood pressure or a lack of education of the process. Monitoring a patient’s vital signs can be a critical part of the plan of care but it’s often a struggle to get patients to do it.

In office visits aren’t always the right answer, as a patient will often get “white coat syndrome” at the doctor. For example, the stress of being at the doctor can cause a patient to have abnormally high blood pressure so this must be considered. Because of this, a physician may ask the patient to go home and keep track of their vital signs but has been proven to be ineffective in the past for the reasons listed above.

Over the past few years, SD-WANs have become the Kardashians of the tech industry. That is, it’s hard to go anywhere or talk to anyone without the topic of SD-WANs coming up. Unlike the Kardashians, SD-WANs deserve this level of attention, since the technology is useful by lowering the cost of running a WAN and improves application performance. However, for all the hype and chatter about the topic, its primary focus has been to improve connectivity to branch offices.

In large networks, this task is impossible as the number of possible combinations of hardware and software grows exponentially in relation to the number of locations.
